In this week’s Soul Health Mentor Podcast,
I introduce you to the wonderful Jill McClennen and her sacred work as a death doula.
We talk about how death holds a sacred medicine when we allow ourselves to talk about grieving and dying. We also speak about how holding space for death and being present to it, can hold tremendous healing capacities. Being a Certified Death Doula and Coach means that she works as a non-medical person trained to care for someone holistically (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) at the end of life.
When doing coaching work with clients it means being an added support system to them during a time of having to face death.
Clients can be caregivers for someone at the end of life or someone who is grieving.
This podcast episode is for you if you are wanting to learn how to grieve your losses, face death and dying, or have been carrying the burden of grieving with you, without having anyone to talk to about it in your immediate surroundings.
While training to become a death doula Jill realized how she was becoming more aware of her beliefs around death and dying, which changed the way she lived her life every day. She realized that she could help people go through the same transformation. She believes that so many of our fears as the human collective, and the stories and beliefs we have, hold us back from being our true selves, with the fear of death at the root. This is part of the cause of so much suffering in the world right now.
By not acknowledging we will one day die, not living a life that is true to us, and holding onto anger, shame, and guilt we are not able to live life to the fullest and we die with regrets.
Jill loves talking about death, dying, grief, and why you can live a better life once you work through your fears around death and dying.”
